Ronald Wesley Bates passed away at home in Lloydminster, AB surrounded by his family on November 10, 2025 at the age of 79.

Ron leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife of 56 years, Frances Bates; children, Ronda Bates (Don Scansen) and their children, KS, Anna and Jane; and Corry Bates (Brad Rawluk) and their children, Ben and Sam; brother, Melvin Bates (Vivian Morton); siblings-in-law, Sharon Bates, Phyllis Braithwaite (Dave Onufrechuk), Roger Braithwaite (Sandra), Lois Etherington (Gary), Marilyn Butz (Dorsey), Gordon Braithwaite (Karen) and Linda Romanchuk (Brent); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron is predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Meta Bates; parents-in-law, Don and Joyce Braithwaite; brother, Dale Bates; and brother-in-law, Bruce Braithwaite.

A private family service will be held at a later date. 

Ron’s family is deeply grateful to Homecare Services and the staff of the Lloydminster Hospital, with special thanks to the wonderful nurses on the 3rd floor who cared for Ron.
