Robert "Bob" Williams Obituary

Robert "Bob" John Williams, 71, passed away peacefully after a long, hard fought, battle with Multiple Sclerosis on December 29, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Bob is predeceased by: his parents, Allan and Rose Williams; sister, Anna Brad; brother-in-law, Roger Brad; parents-in-law, Jim and Elaine Podhordeski; brother-in-law, Larry Podhordeski; niece, Kayleen Sydorko; niece, Autumn Manz; and nephew, Jaeden Sydorko.

Bob is survived by: The love of his life and wife of 51 years, Teresa Williams; daughter, Tasha (Kyle) Dalueg and her children, Ashton (Christina) and Katelynn; son, Tyler (Amanda) Williams; brothers, Patrick (Marcia) Williams, Steve (Paulette) Williams, and Peter (Joanne) Williams; sisters-in-law, Michele Sydorko, Kathy Podhordeski (Glenn) and Jan Podhordeski; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was the eldest of 5 children and mostly grew up in Leask, SK. By the age of 16, he had his private pilot's license, and by the time he was 20, he had his commercial license, with the intention of flying commercially for a large well-known airline. He worked for Norcanair at the Saskatoon Airport, and then transferred up north to the La Ronge Airport. His hope was to get more flying hours while he worked on the dock loading and unloading float planes. Unfortunately flying opportunities weren't as plentiful as he had hoped, so he decided to try another career.

Bob moved to Calgary in October 1974, and became an iron worker. Then he and his high school sweetheart, Teresa, started to plan their wedding. They were married on December 28, 1974.

Bob and Teresa lived in Calgary for 3.5 years. He bought an airplane and enjoyed flying for pleasure. He started down the road of his ultimate career in 1977, which was a flight service specialist. They drove to Ottawa for his  training, and Burwash Landing, Yukon was his first posting. They loved it up there, as there was lots of fishing, hunting and camping, as well as beautiful scenery.

Their daughter Tasha, was born in the Yukon. After 3 years, Bob was able to transfer to a more southern post and he chose Vermilion, AB as it was the closest place to their extended family in Saskatchewan. He eventually transferred to the Lloydminster Airport when it was finished being built.

When they were expecting their son Tyler, he and Teresa bought an acreage north of Blackfoot. He was 27 at the time and built the house from a whole in the ground to the roof in 3 months, all while working full time shift work at the Vermilion Airport. His brothers, Dad, Father-in-law and best friend from high school came to help whenever they could. Bob's determination and drive came from the desire to have the house completely finished by the time their son was born. Bob did all of the landscaping on their acreage as well.

He loved spending time with Teresa and the kids, going on camping trips through out the summer, and on family holidays. Then he bought a quad and a boat to continue the family adventures.

Because Bob enjoyed hunting so much, he got a golden retriever pup and trained her to retrieve birds for goose and pheasant hunting. Another thing Bob did, was he, his brothers and a cousin went on a hunting trip up to Swan Hills every year.

In 1996, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Thankfully, it was slow progressing, but Bob met every challenge it brought with the same determination that he had all his life. In 2001, they sold the acreage and moved into their new house in Lloydminster that could better accommodate his needs. He was finding it difficult to walk, so he got a motorized scooter and traveled all over Lloydminster. He was a big people person, enjoyed visiting with everyone, and sharing stories, especially if it was about hunting or fishing.

He also loved spending time with his two grandchildren. Taking them for rides on his scooter to get treats from Tim Horton’s or just going to play at the park when they were little.

Bob spotted geese for an outfitter in Lloydminster, and enjoyed doing that for 13 years as well.

He and Teresa also started to go on vacations every year in the winter for a few weeks.

Bob never complained about his disability due to MS. His attitude was so positive, and he always had a good outlook on life no matter what it did to his body.
