Veronica Willa Thompson passed away at Onion Lake, SK on August 24, 2025 at the age of 43 years.

Veronica was born to Wilfred Opissinow and Ethel Thompson in 1982 in Hinton, AB.

She grew up in Onion Lake, SK. where she met the love of her life, Eugene in 2000. They started their family with their first born, Gabriel in 2002. They were joined with the addition of Phoenix as well in 2003. Corbin joined a year after, and then Bryson a couple years later. The family suffered 3 losses of boys during the following years. 

As the boys grew into hockey playable age, they started playing for Onion Lake Border Chiefs. Veronica absolutely loved watching her sons play in numerous surrounding communities. She was always very proud when the boys won tournaments, which the boys teams always played well.

She will be greatly missed at the games, one of her proudest moments was the birth of her first grandson, Kohen Thompson, born to Gabriel Thompson and Tannis Stanley. She always looked forward to Kohen’s visits.

Veronica is survived by her loving parents, Wilfred Opissinow Ethel Thompson; her loving spouse, Eugene Dufresne; her children, Gabriel (Tannis), Phoenix (Chance) Corbin, Bryson and baby girl, Ally, which she absolutely adored, and enjoyed raising as their own.

Veronica was blessed in raising her stepchildren, Diandra Dufresne, Savannah Dufresne, Tristen and Kristen Dufresne. As the older children got older, they began to start their own little families and were blessed with 9 grandchildren in total.

Veronica is also survived by her siblings, Valentina (Leslie) Thompson, Vanora (Dwayne) Joachim, Sam Thompson (Noella), Marlene Opissinow-Thompson and Darlene Opissinow-Thompson; as well as numerous adopted children.

Veronica was pre-deceased by: her 3 sons; and her grandparents, Albert Wask, Caroline Opissinow, Samual Thompson, and Christine Thompson.

The Wake for Veronica will be conducted from Onion Lake Communiplex, Onion Lake, AB. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 12:00 noon.

The Funeral Service for Veronica will be conducted from Onion Lake Communiplex, Onion Lake, AB. on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
