Maurice Gravel Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that the family announce the passing of Maurice Gravel of Lloydminster, AB on February 24, 2005 at the age of 55 years. After a courageous battle with cancer he passed away with his family by his side at the Lloydminster Hospital.


He is lovingly remembered and missed by his wife, Sharon; four sons Ron (Kim) of St. Albert, AB; Dan (Christina) of Orangeville, ON; Jeff (Jennifer) of Hinton, AB; Jason (Jennifer) of Lloydminster, AB; five grandchildren: Megan, Justin, Derek, Jake and Joshua; his mother Margaret Livingston (Ernie) of Edmonton, AB; one brother Dan (Letitia) of Spruce Grove, AB; three sisters: Susan Williams and Linda (Ken) Best of Edmonton, AB; Judy (Bruce) Bodnar of Victoria, BC; numerous in-laws, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.


He was predeceased by his father Daniel Gravel July 2, 2004.


A prayer service for Maurice was conducted from St. Anthony’s Parish, Lloydminster, AB on Sunday, February 27, 2005.


Mass of Christian Burial was conducted from St. Anthony’s Parish on Monday, February 28, 2005 with Father Adam Lech officiating.


A eulogy was given by nephew Mike Gravel of Edmonton, AB. Readings were given by his nephew Darrell Marshall of Edmonton, AB and by nieces Crystal and Jessica Boschman of Red Deer, AB.


Leader of songs was Marlene Risling accompanied on the trumpet by Mel Risling and on the organ by Donna Weston.


Honorary pallbearers were Grandchildren: Megan, Justin, Derek, Jake and Joshua.


Active pallbearers were: Ron Gravel, Dan W. Gravel, Jeff Gravel, Jason Gravel, Dan L. Gravel and Eugene Kondro.


The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Father Adam Lech, Dr. F. P. Naude, Dr. T. Cavanagh, Dr. T Kerlis, Dr. Singh and the Lloydminster Hospital nurses for the exceptional and compassionate care given to Maurice and to our family during this difficult time.


Also a grateful thank you to McCaw Funeral Service of Lloydminster for administering the funeral arrangements and to St. Anthony’s CWL for serving the lunch after the service.


Donations in memory of Maurice may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
